Terms of Service

Effective April 27, 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using CaddyStax (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

CaddyStax helps golf groups track scores, run side games, manage payouts, and keep an informal ledger between players. The Service is provided as-is during an open beta. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it updated. Group admins are responsible for the data they enter on behalf of guest players.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or third-party right.
  • Attempt to access another group's data, bypass access controls, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities outside coordinated disclosure.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate the Service in a way that disrupts other users.
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or harassing content.
  • Resell or sublicense the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that present a risk to the Service or other users.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the data you and your group enter (scores, ledger entries, notes). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that data so we can operate the Service for you and your group.

Group admins may edit or remove data within their group. If you leave a group, the historical rounds and ledger entries you participated in remain visible to that group so balances stay consistent.

6. Money and ledger entries

CaddyStax tracks informal debts between members of a golf group for convenience. We are not a bank, payment processor, or financial institution. The Service does not move money between players. All settlements occur off-platform between players. We make no guarantees about the accuracy of any user-entered amount.

7. Beta status

The Service is currently in open beta. Features may change, data may be lost in the event of an incident (we keep daily database backups but not zero-loss replication), and uptime is best-effort, not guaranteed.

8. Third-party services

The Service uses third-party providers (Render for hosting, Cloudflare for edge, Stripe for any future billing, OpenAI for optional AI features, an SMTP provider for email). Their terms and privacy policies apply to data we share with them. We are not responsible for outages or actions of those providers.

9. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CADDYSTAX AND ITS OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or present a risk to the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute is the state or federal courts of that state.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
